6th Annual Armenian Festival of Orange County

Greetings to all Living Beyond Organic enthusiasts!

I am happy to announce that I will be appearing at this years Armenian Festival of Orange County!
Food Alchemy is donating Armenian Coffee to be sold by AGBU at the event all proceeds of Armenian coffee prepared at the event will go to benefit the organization.
AGBU stands for Armenian General Benevolent Union it is an international organization established in 1906 to promote Armenian Heritage around the world.
I have a very warm place in my heart for the Armenian people having been adopted into Armenian society when I married my husband Ara at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church of Glendale back in 1987. We are the parents of two healthy daughters. Both attended and graduated from Armenian School, First Steps Pre-school and Kindergarden in La Crescenta and then Chamlian Armenian School. As a result they are both fluent in the Armenian language. Christara who is now 21, a Senior at USC preparing for Medical school and Tiara, age 14 a freshmen at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy who is very interested in the performing arts now and Law school in the future.

I am honored that I was asked to speak at this event. Please join me for an informative presentation on Living Beyond Organic and the benefits of Papua coffee on Saturday and an informative talk on High Blood Pressure on Sunday. Introducing a New Food Alchemy Recipe!

When you are in the mood for the perfect combination of creamy, sweet and tart I invite you to try the “alchemized” version of a traditional favorite:

Key Lime Cheesecake

Graham cracker pie Crust:

1 whole pack + 3 crackers
1/4 cup organic unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon grade B maple syrup

Place Graham crackers in food processor 1 minute or until finely ground crumbs. Pour Graham crumbs into a 9″ glass pie pan. Combine maple syrup and melted butter, slowly drizzle mixture over crumbs to moisten. Mix well, press crumbs firmly and evenly against bottom and sides.
Chill until ready to bake.

Filling:

1/4 cup Key lime juice
1 duck egg yolk
1/4 cup organic heavy cream
1/4 cup grade B maple syrup
11 ounces soft goat cheese
(Silver Goat Brand)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or Absolut vodka
(optional)

Place lime juice and egg yolk in mixer blend until smooth. Add goat cheese, heavy cream and maple syrup continue blending until smooth. If desired add vanilla or Absolut (optional).

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.

Pour filling into pie crust bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes. Cool at room temperature at least 1 hour, refrigerate for 2 hours.

Creme Topping:
1/2 cup creme fraiche
1 tablespoon grade B maple syrup
freshly grated lime zest to taste

Combine sour cream, maple syrup and zest. Spread over chilled pie, garnish with lime zest and a thin slice of lime in the center. Voila!

Please accept my most sincere apology for the misspelling of your name I have recently updated the Trend Show blog to reflect the correct spelling.

To all Living Beyond Organic enthusiasts it is my pleasure to introduce you to Dr. Mihoko Nelsen she is indeed a leader in her field, inspirational and ahead of her time. Dr. Nelsen specializes in Neurology which is amazing in and of itself. However, because she loves to research and is always adding to her knowledge of the body/mind connection she understands the importance of eating well.
One of her goals is to introduce the practice of eating well to her patients both by example and sharing the principles of Living Beyond Organic.

Fig Preserves (Tuzee Varehnee)

2 cups Fresh figs
1 cup mountain spring water
1 cup Sucanat dehydrated cane juice
1/2 cup grade B maple syrup (optional)
dash cinnamon
dash fennel powder
1 tablespoon 100% pure vegetable glycerine

Place figs in a medium saucepan add enough water to cover figs, Sucanat and spices. Over a medium flame bring to a boil cover and simmer for 30 minutes. For a thicker syrup add grade B maple syrup. Add glycerine to preserve and voila!

Allow mixture to cool and spoon into a Mason jar with tight fitting lid. Keep refrigerated and for best results use within 2 weeks.

Tips to enjoy this middle eastern favorite:

Simply by itself with hot tea for a traditional delight.

As a delicious breakfast treat try it on toast with soft goat cheese.

As a heavenly dessert try it pureed and drizzled over coconut ice cream garnish with fresh mint leaves!

This documentary is setting out to establish what true health and vitality
really are. We are interviewing experts in western, eastern, and holistic
medicines as well as leaders in the green movement. Our focus will be on a
healthy integrative model that focuses on lifestyle, prediction, and
prevention of disease.

Produced and hosted by Pedram Shojai an acclaimed Qi Gong master, master herbalist, and talented Acupuncturist in Southern California. He comes from an unbroken line of Alchemical masters of the Yellow Dragon Monastery in China and is an ordained minister of that tradition.

This was emailed to me and I felt compelled to share it with You!

Hi Christina,

My name is Dee and I am from Livermore, California! I am 54 years old and
live with my husband Carlos, two sons, and my Shih-tzu, “Charlie”. I have 3
adult children who have left the nest already! I recently was laid off due
to the economy and building slump in the commercial market. I decided to use
this time to get healthier! I have been overweight most of my adult life.
Due to a very stressful job and not exercising or eating healthy, I have
ballooned to almost 250 lbs. I have several allergies and asthma. I have
tried every diet under the sun and most recently have been following the
Weight Watchers plan. I continued to not feel well and the weight seems to
not budge. I have, however, been successful in becoming more active.
Gardening, walking, and going to the gym for strength training have been
added to my routines. I also enjoy riding my bicycle.

I was in San Diego last week with my daughter Katie while she attended a
workshop for her photography business. She and her husband live close to us
in Brentwood, CA and are expecting my first grandchild in August. Her
husband was unable to travel with her so I had the privilege of driving her
down. While she was attending her workshop I decided to spend my time
reading and enjoying the sun in San Diego! The best day was when I walked
into Barnes & Noble in Mira Mesa and the first book I took off the shelf was
yours, “Living Beyond Organic”. Oh my goodness, I couldn’t even wait to
start digging into it. I also couldn’t wait for us to get home. I quickly
found a Whole Foods in La Jolla the next day and purchased a few items to
help me until I got home this past Friday. I can’t thank you enough for what
you shared in your book and how I am anticipating it will literally change
my life!!!! I have been doing everything I can so far….and in just a few
short days feel tremendously improved!! I love how my body is starting to
feel and I have so much more energy. I have told everyone I’ve talked to
since starting about you and your book!!

I also have noticed that I didn’t need to take my allergy medicine
today….I usually can’t even make it to 12 hours without the next dose. I
haven’t used my inhaler for an entire day! I feel like my breathing is much
deeper than it has been in a long while! I don’t think any of this is
coincidence either.

I would love to see more dialogue or blogging on your book where people like
me can interact with each other and ask questions about the lifestyle. I’ve
found your website and Facebook pages but hope to see more interaction in
the future. If there is anything I can do for you to promote your book in
the Northern California area, just let me know! I will tell anyone who will
listen about it! I’m hoping to be able to be a visual picture of the
benefits of this lifestyle in the very near future! We have some great
Farmer’s Markets in this area. Would love to have you come up this way!!

In closing, I would just like to thank you again for your book. I know it
was divine intervention that led me to it that day in San Diego. I’m looking
forward to a new journey to health. My husband has high sugar levels but is
very stubborn about not eating differently. I know if he sees how this is
helping me, that it will be the only way to “get” into his head and have him
see the need to make changes for himself. I also plan to prepare meals very
differently and purchase much healthier food. He can’t escape! :-)
